Frequently Asked
Questions About The Shooting Ranges and Classroom
Q) When are the Itasca Gun Club Business
Meetings
A) Business meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of every
month except for December. Business meetings begin at 7:30 PM at the
indoor range clubhouse.
Directions to the Itasca Gun Club.
Q) What are the range hours?
A) The outdoor ranges are generally
available to club members for "self supervised use" during daylight
hours all year long. In the summer, we ask members to be respectful
of our neighbors by not beginning to shoot until at least 8:00 AM.
There are a few times each year when scheduled events like Service
Rifle Matches, Deer Rifle Sight In Days, Police
Training/Qualifications will supersede the open range policy.
These and any other special events can be found listed on the
events calendar on our website.
Indoor range and
classroom schedules are posted on the website as well. These
facilities are available to any member who wishes to set up a class,
clinic or special event. The indoor facilities are not available for
un-supervised use.
Q) What are the range rules?
A) Common rules of safety and courtesy
apply to everyone who visits the Itasca Gun Club. When not in use,
all firearms must be unloaded and the actions must be open. The
Itasca Gun Club has adopted the NRA Range Safety Rules and we expect
members and visitors to be familiar with these rules. View a
printable copy of the
NRA Range Rules Here.
Q) What are the guest policies?
A) Membership includes your immediate
family (wife and children under 18). We occasionally permit members
to bring in a "guest" for the purposes of exposing them to the club,
but for additional visits, we'd expect them to take advantage of the
low $30 annual membership.
Q) Why am I asked to volunteer 5 hours
every year?
A)
The low annual membership dues are the result of
dedicated volunteers who keep the range running smoothly. We could
hire out a lot of the work we do, but by doing most of it ourselves,
we help keep shooting at a great range affordable for everyone. If
you really don't have 5 hours of free time, you can opt to send an
extra 25 bucks in lieu of the volunteer time. The extra cash helps
us cover the cost of work that we do have to hire out and it's an
easy way to get off the hook.
Q) Can I join on the internet?
A) We do not have
credit card capability, so joining online is not currently possible.
We do have a printable online application form that you may complete
and return by mail. Your application will be processed as soon as we
receive your signed application and a membership card will be sent
via US Mail.
Q) When are new membership cards issued each year?
A) During mid winter we always get a few questions from life members and those who have already paid their dues about when membership cards will arrive. Typically, it takes a couple of months to get all of the paperwork in and accounted for. During this time, your previously issued membership cards and gate combinations will remain in force.
We never change the gate combination until the new cards are mailed to everyone. Combinations are typically changed on or about March 1st annually.
