Hunter Sight In Days

28716, Prairie Lake Road, Grand Rapids MN 55744.       Slideshow!

Our Hunter Sight In Days is a two week event, open to the public.  Hunters may sight in rifles / hunting handguns while our volunteers help spot your shots, adjust your sights or scope and maintain safe conditions at and behind the firing line.  $3 per firearm.  You may sight in more than one firearm, and you are allowed to shoot enough to safely get sighted in.

Distance options in yards:  25, 50, 100, 200, 300

$2 per raffle ticket for chances to win more firearms - A Thompson Center 30-06, a Ruger 9mm, a Ruger .22, a 3x9 Burris scope and a folding Buck knife.

Very basic scope mounting/repair services are available.  Fired brass is available for purchase by the pound, sorted by caliber. Lead ingots are available for purchase by the pound, recycled from spent bullets (Brinell hardness ~12).

Oct 20 and 21  9:00 - 5:00

Oct 22 through 26  12:00 - 5:00

Oct 27 through Nov 2  9:00 - 5:00

Nov 3 - you should be out hunting!  It's opener!

There will be an office on site for purchasing shooting tickets, raffle tickets for firearms, lead ingots and fired brass.  If it's really cold out, the office is available for warming up.  There will be an ADA accessible portable toilet, but you have to warm that yourself.

Shooting will stop at 5:00 PM, period.  Please get there as early as you can on the last couple of days before deer opener, as there can be quite a crowd.  Itasca Gun Club provides bench rests, chairs, sandbags, targets and a volunteer to help you spot your shots on the targets.

"Sight In Days" is an important part of IGC's annual fundraising. Everyone out there helping is a volunteer.  If you're already a member, and don't feel you should have to pay $3.00 to sight in, then do that a few weeks early before all those volunteers show up and give their time to the club.

Those who volunteer to help hunters sight in should plan to sign up for four hour shifts, 9:00 - 1:00 and 1:00 - 5:00.  For the period of Oct 22 through Oct 26, please plan for five hour shifts, from 12:00 - 5:00.

To sign up for a shift, please  send an email to  Steve at  igcsightin@yahoo.com

Please consider joining the Itasca Gun Club while you're here!  We've built a great new range, and membership fees can help with continuing construction of pistol and small bore ranges.  The Itasca Gun Club is a 501(c)4 non-profit, and we have members from many counties across the state.   You can have a lot of year-round shooting opportunities for $30 a year, which is about the cost for two hours of shooting at a metro range.

We host a variety of competitive, casual and just fun indoor and outdoor shooting opportunities.  They're open to the public, and we're family oriented.  We have a 100, 200 and 300  yard range for rifle and pistol, and will be building a 1,000 yard range as we move forward.  We will also be building two outdoor pistol ranges and an outdoor smallbore 100 yard range.  Check the Indoor Shooting and Outdoor Shooting tabs above.

We put on regular classes, as noted on our calendar.  We have certified trainers for pistol carry permits, DNR youth firearm safety and DNR adult firearm safety (sometimes needed for hunting in other states.)  For DNR firearm safety, we hold both the traditional 16 hour classroom/field classes, and the new web/field day classes.
